Sexually transmitted infections can occur in any adolescents who has had sexual relations, but they happen more often in teens who have more sexual partners or who don't use condoms. Signs of an infection could include bumps, sores, itching, discharge, swollen glands in the groin, pain with urination, blood in the urine, irregular periods, and lower abdominal pain – but STDs can be present in patients with no symptoms at all, so routine screening is recommended. If you are concerned that you might have a sexually transmitted infection, you should make an appointment with Dr. Arden right away to be tested.
